deliverability

Deliverability is operations, not magic.

Most “deliverability problems” are misconfigured authentication, wrong IP reputation, or poor list hygiene. All of them are operational problems with operational solutions.

Authentication

SPF, DKIM, DMARC — all three, per-tenant.

Most 'deliverability problems' are authentication failures. SPF tells receiving servers which IPs are allowed to send for your domain. DKIM signs each message with a cryptographic key. DMARC ties them together and tells ISPs what to do with failures. mailmate configures all three per-tenant, scoped to their domain. You don't touch DNS records manually — the control panel generates them and validates them automatically.

Sending Reputation & IP Warmup

Reputation is earned slowly and lost fast.

New IPs start with no reputation. ISPs throttle them aggressively until they see a track record of legitimate, engaged recipients. mailmate automates warmup — starting low, scaling volume as each IP earns trust. If reputation degrades, rotation happens automatically. Shared IP pools are monitored continuously. On Scale plans, dedicated IPs are available with your full control.

Bounces, Deferrals & Suppression

Bad addresses kill deliverability. We remove them.

Hard bounces (5xx) are suppressed immediately — sending to them again flags you as a poor sender. Soft bounces (4xx deferrals) are retried with backoff according to ISP signals. Complaints from feedback loops are suppressed within minutes. Suppression lists are per-tenant and portable — if a client migrates away, their list comes with them.

Feedback Loops & ISP Relationships

We talk to ISPs so you don't have to.

Major ISPs (Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, and others) offer feedback loop programs — they'll tell you when recipients mark mail as spam. mailmate is registered with all major FBLs. Complaint rates are monitored per-tenant and per-IP. If a tenant's complaint rate spikes, you get an alert before it becomes a blocklist event.

Per-Tenant Isolation

One bad client can't hurt another.

On a shared Postfix setup, one tenant sending to bad lists will damage the IP reputation for every other tenant on the same server. mailmate enforces infrastructure-level isolation — each tenant has their own credential set, their own reputation profile, and their own traffic lane. A bad day for client A is invisible to client B.
